Lithe and graceful regularfoot surfer from Makaha, Hawaii; one of the best female competitors of the late 1960s and early '70s, and younger sister of Hawaiian surf icon Rell Sunn. Sunn was born (1952) and raised in Makaha, the youngest of five siblings, and began surfing at age nine. She won the Makaha International in 1967, at just 14 years old, beating two-time world champion Joyce Hoffman in the finals. Sunn repeated in 1969 and 1970 (and was runner-up in 1968). She also finished fourth in the 1968 World Surfing Championships, and fifth in the 1970 Championships. A regularfooter, Sunn was noted for her refined and relaxed wave-riding style.
